Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of February 16, 1914 Chas. Lovenberg, Manager The bill this week is rather disappointing. there were no real big hits, although we had a very good house. some of the acts, however, went very well. LAWTON Juggler. This man has quite a lot of new tricks, which he performs with exceptional skill. About as good an act in a small way as we have had in a long time - of that kind. 10 Min. F. S. BESSIE LE COUNT This is an inoffensive little act. Not much to it, excepting one bit in which she does a pantomimic imitation of a boy and then a girl, dressing in the morning. This is exceptionally well done and made the act. Got by all right in this spot. 11 Min. in One. BINNS & BURT Comedy ring act. This act was an out and out disappointment. I had been led to believe that it was excruciately funny. They got some laughs, principally on the work done here before them by Hubert Dyer, who did it a great deal better. As a whole, I can only call the act fair. 10 Min. F. S. FLORENZE TEMPEST & COMPANY Miss Tempest and her manager made themselves as obnoxious as possible in every way, until they were told they could either do as they had agreed to or walk out; then they decided to play, but gave the performance in an off-hand sort of a manner, with the consequence that I cannot, in this report, call it a very good act. I want to say in passing, however, that Miss Tempest sang the smuttiest song at her first performance that has ever been heard on the stage of Keith's Providence Theatre. 18 Min. open in One, Close F. S. BISON CITY FOUR A rough - I might say - a VERY rough comedy act. Just the thing that was needed at this spot, however. 16 Min. in One. LOUISE GALLOWAY & CO. Miss Galloway presented a very entertaining sketch; well presented by herself and company. I was surprised at the amount of comedy contained in it; the serious part only came for about five minutes at the finish. 25 Min. F. S. VAN & SCHENCK Well-known singing comedians, who scored their usual hit. 15 Min. in One. "WRONG FROM THE START" To my mind, a very funny burlesque melodrama. 27 Min. F.S. MR. & MRS. VERNON CASTLE in Motion Pictures Rather interesting film, which I believe the people appreciate and according to indications will draw us business. 15 Min.
