174 174 BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT ON SHOW MARCH 9, 1914. GALLANDO. Clay modeller. 10 minutes in (2). Fair act as far as novelty goes, but hardly strong enough to satisfy this town. Got few laughs and little applause. BABY HELEN. 11 minutes in (1). Great act. Very clever little performer, possessing great versatility. Went very big at all performances, and received tremendous applause. BERT WHEELER & Co, In "fun On The Boulevard". 8 minutes, full stage. One woman, two men. Comedy of the horse-play, boisterous kind, with a smattering of jugglery of the most mediocre quality. Very little of skill or ability shown, and far from being a first-class act. Lots of the old stuff that has gone before all depending on "pulling the string". Got a few laughs and very little applause. Note----The idea of two 'dumb" acts with baby Helen rather a weak show in my estimation. everything reverts back to Baby Helen, and were it not for this act the show would fall flat. There is no life to the show as might be expected with two "dumb" acts. W. E. Parmenter manager. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT ON SHOW MARCH 12, 1914. ARTHUR & GRACE TERRY. Dancers and lariat throwers. 12 minutes, full stage. Failed to get away with the audience and got practically nothing in the way of applause. HAPPY JACK GARDINER. Blackface singing and musical comedian. 15 minutes in (1). Went food Thursday P. M. Not so good in evening after cutting out the suggestive stuff as that was practically a big part of his parodies, and I asked him to cut it. MASTER DAVE SCHOOLER AND MISS LOUISE DICKINSON. 'The boy Padereweski' and The girl soprano. 18 minutes in (1). Exceptionally good act. Piano work brilliant, and brought a riot of applause. Singing of the girl is quite pleasing and got fair applause, but they couldn't get enough of the piano, and the act certainly is a tremendous hit. W. E. Parmenter Manager.
