B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, OHIO. Week of March 15th, 1914. John f. Royal. AZARD BROTHERS 7 min. F.S. Pal. Best opening act we have had this year. Wonderful performers in hand-balancing. Despite the hand-balancing act last week, this act got as much applause in this spot as any act on the bill. Closed very strong. LOUISVILLE. JOHN GEIGER 14 min. in One. Street. Italian character with his well known violin. Went very good. They like this form of entertainment and Geiger proved pleasing. Strong closing. PITTSBURG. C. H. O'DONNELL AND COMPANY 19 min. F.S. Kitchen. Two men and two women in melo-dramatic act of the ten, twenty and thirty type. There is not much to this act but somehow it gets over. There are some comedy lines at the opening and a few heart throbs at the finish. The young boy in this act is really one of the best actors in the sketch. Held the interest throughout and closed in a satisfactory manner. WOONSOCKET IDEAL 28 min. 15 min. open in One. 13 min. F.S. Ideal is a woman, who is said to have swam the Niagra Rapids for a moving picture. She shows this film at the opening of her act and then does some diving and swimming. As a headliner, this woman is a failure. The people here are sick and tired of swimming acts, and this act is nothing out of the ordinary to warrant headline honors. There are a dozen girls on the small time, who are better divers and ninety percent better figures than this woman. To make matters worse, her announcer lost his voice and his explanation had to be made by one of the performers, who, while doing the best he could, bungled the whole thing. MAE WEST 16 min. in One. This chunk of humanity is evidently somewhat of a hypnotist. She remained on the stage for sixteen minutes, did'nt do much of anything, but still she made the people laugh here. She talks about herself, sings a few songs and stalls around the stage, but still the people laugh and applaud. She looks pretty and the act gets over. CLEVELAND. WM. J. WARD AND HIS "MATINEE GIRLS" 31 min. F.S. 2 min. Open in One. A Gus Edwards act that does not compare with some of his other productions. This is a bright and lively singing act with little to it, but the breeze of it seemed to please the people out here. It was the first big lively act on the bill and got over. Mr. Ward sings well and the girls do what they have to do well, but they hav'nt much to do. There are some imitations that are good and some that are not good. Altogether, the act was pleasing. LOUISVILLE. MELVILLE AND HIGGINS 20 min. in One. Olio. Popular reception. This act being the first genuine comedy act on the bill, naturally went very big. Held this spot in good shape. INDIANAPOLIS. FIVE MOWATTS 9 min. F.S. Garden. Four men and a boy in a club juggling novelty. They worked very fast and proved a good closing feature. INDIANAPOLIS. B. F. KEITHOGRAPH CUTS Mellville and Higgins, remarks to the audience. Mae West - Use of word "Chicken".
