B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, OHIO. Week of March 28th, 1914. John F. Royal. ERNIE AND ERNIE 12 min. in Two. Man and woman in a really clever opening act. Man has but one leg and the stunts he does in this condition are really wonderful. Their closing stunt, doing a "Tango", the man using a crutch for a foot, is a tremendous hit. PITTSBURG. WALTER JAMES 17 min. in One. Olio. Tramp comedian. Mr. James has an exceptional singing voice for a comedian and some fair material in his talk. His material about a burlesque show is rather rough in spots. He went strong, however, especially with his singing. His two parodies at the finish brought him a strong closing. TOLEDO THREE KEATONS 17 min. F.S. Big laughing hit all the way. LOUISVILLE. SCHOOLER AND DICKINSON 21 min. Olio. Boy and girl in one of the prettiest acts of its kind seen here this season. The boy plays the piano well and knows how to put his stuff over. The girl is pretty and, while she does not possess a great voice, she uses what she has to a good advantage. All of the numbers, especially those with the piano, went big. Act one of the applause hits of the bill. TOLEDO. MISS BLANCHE BATES 36 min. F.S. Three scenes, dark library and special. Seven people in the best headline feature of this nature this season. This act was given at a two dollar house early in the season by Martha Hedman, and all the critics were unanimous in their opinion that Miss Bates far surpassed her. The act held the interest throughout and did not prove to be a top heavy cast with a big star and mediocre performers, but instead was a well balanced cast of excellent performers. Miss Bates received a big welcome at every performance. Big applause at the end of the first two scenes and a very strong finish. The sketch itself is not one that is well liked and it is Miss Bates' personality that got it over. The finish was very big. MINNEAPOLIS. MISS LYDIA BARRY 25 min. in One. Popular singing comedienne, assisted by a piano player, with four songs. Miss Barry went over very strong. CHICAGO. BLANK FAMILY 15 min. F.S. A Really clever juggling act which made a fine closing feature. They do some balancing and juggling at the same time that is really good, and the little girl juggling gives a novel atmosphere to the work that is very satisfactory. Many of their stunts received applause and they closed very strong. INDIANAPOLIS. LOCAL MOTION PICTURES Featuring "Tango" dance on a fourteen inch ledge of a skyscraper, 225 ft. in the air. CUTS Walter James - Gag about "getting a chicken stewed," and "getting close to nature at a burlesque show".
