REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK APRIL 13, 1914..W.W. Prosser. Van Cleve, Denton and "Pete": Black-face comedian, woman and mule in comedy circus act. Antiquated in style and not especially entertaining. Not really bad, however, and, in a general way, pleased moderately well. No finish to speak of. Special Cyke in 4, 9 min. (Indianapolis) Daisy Leon: "The Little Prima Donna". Nice looking young woman, with a good voice. Sang four or five numbers, acceptably. Finished quite strong. Olio in 1, 14 min. (Louisville) "Lie That Jack Built" Four young people. Two men and two women in an extravagant farce in which there is plenty of action and which proved quite entertaining. Plenty of laughter. Held attention throughout. The people make a good appearance. Good finish. Fancy in 3, 17 minutes. (Toledo) Carl Byal & Dora Early: Man and woman in a singing and dancing number. Man makes a good appearance and possesses a pleasing falsetto tenor. The woman has exceptional comedy talent and is very original in her style and delivery. She excels in unique, angular movements of the body, arms and legs. Proved a genuine comedy hit. The man lends good assistance. Went big throughout and finished strong. Olio in 1, 12 minutes? (Indianapolis) B. A. Rolfe's "Porch Party": Quite an elaborate set. The usual Rolfe combination of singing, dancing and instrumental numbers. The work of the young team of dancers is the bright particular spot in the act. The offering, as a whole, is pleasing and got over in good shape. Held attention throughout and finished strong. Special in 5, 23 minutes. (Open) Kenny, Nobody and Platt: The same pair of black-face artists as before, with about the same material. However, they proved the laughing and applause hit of the show. Went big from beginning to end and finished strong. Street in 1, 13 minutes. (New York) Four Kasracs: One man, three women in a rough and tumble acrobatic act, very much European in style. Pretty rough, yet well received. Applause at various points and a strong finish. Special in 4, 11 minutes. (Indianapolis) Motion Pictures: Lubin Comedy. O.K.
