REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK APR. 27, 1914.W.W. Prosser. KALMA & LaFARLON: Young man and woman assistant presenting conventional line of magic. Nothing out of the ordinary, but pleasing. Got along fairly well. No finish to speak of. Special in 3, 13 minutes. (Open) ETHEL MAE BARKER: Young girl violinist. Very pleasing Miss, who renders several violin numbers with excellent results. Plays well and has good style. Went big throughout. Applause after each number and a strong finish with numerous bows. Olio in 1, 15 minutes. (New York City) BILLY & MARIE HART: In their comedy skit, "The Circus Girl". About the same act as before. Pleased all the way through. Attention, laughter and a good finish. Specials in one and three, 20 Min. (Syracuse) DAVE SCHOOLER & LOUISE DICKINSON: "Boy Pianist" and "Girl Soprano". Very pleasing straight song and instrumental number. The girl makes a nice appearance and sings fairly well, although not unusually so. The young man is a rattling good pianist, with musical ability and thorough showmanship. The entire act seemed to hit the bull's eye, going big from the very start. Finished strong. Conservatory in 1 1/2, 21 minutes. (Syracuse) "WOMAN PROPOSES": Four men, four women, featuring Ruth Allen. A very excellent exposition of what the title implies. Thoroughly interesting, and an unusually good comedy offering. Very capable work on the part of the entire cast. Held attention from the beginning, gaining liberal applause, finishing strong and taking several curtains. Special in 3, 33 minutes. (Louisville) FOSTER BALL & FORD WEST: Two men, one character, one straight, in comedy character studies, "Since the Days of '61". Excellent work on the part of the "old veteran" and thoroughly good assistance by the straight. This is an A 1, comedy number. Strong finish. Street in 1, garden in 1, 20 minutes. (Indianapolis) ISHIKAWA JAPS: Four men. fine equilibrists in a series of feats, demonstrating excellent ability. Served very well as a closer. Applause at various points and a good finish. Palace in 4, 7 min. (Cleveland) MOTION PICTURE. O.K.
