H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MAY 4, 1914. ALEXANDER BROS. 9 min. As a novelty act, this won interest and makes the people talk. They have a routine of tricks all showy and skilfully handled. In the opening spot they held close attention and won liberal applause. Finished very well. LUPINO LANE. 12 min. in one. An eccentric English comedian, singer and dancer of the conventional type, singing comedy songs and doing some loose and acrobatic dancing. In number two spot, he did very nicely. Finished with solid applause. BURNHAM & IRWIN. 18 min. Miss Burnham was formerly of Burnham & Smallwood. She plays the piano while Mr. Irwin, an English comedian of the Piccadilly type, sings character songs and mixes in some talk of the exaggerated "chappy" order. Both introduce single numbers which were well liked and finished with some talk that gets over with good results. They work in evening clothes, Miss Burnham making two changes. Act closed strong. JACK KENNEDY & CO. "A Business Proposal." 19 min. This is one of the best comedy sketches in vaudeville. Made just as big a hit this time as it did on previous visit. It is action and laughs all the way through, splendidly played and finished with a big hand. MULLER & STANLEY. 16 min. Most of their old talk and a few new comedy bits. This act scored a big laughing hit as usual. Following their comedy talk at the opening, Miss Muller scored strongly with her operatic selection after which they close with plenty of laughs and applause with their burlesque drama. GERTRUDE HOFFMANN. 64 min. The best vaudeville act extant. A tremendous success here, as in every house she has appeared. Gave a perfect first performance despite playing last night in New York and getting in late today. "H. B. B." PICTURES. Another very good series of local views. GENERAL REMARKS. An excellent show outside of Hoffmann and will be very much better when the Brown Brothers get back on the bill. CUT JACK KENNEDY & CO. Expression "Damned fool." Brown Brothers were unable to appear on account of baggage being lost on jump from Ottawa to Philadelphia. Hope to have them in the bill tonight.
