BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R.I REPORT OF SHOW MONDAY MAY 19, 1914. CHUCK HAAS: Lariat expert, 9 minutes full stage. Good act, but our people do not appreciate this kind of entertainment, and while admitting his cleverness, do not manifest any great liking for his kind of work. SPENCER & WILLIAMS: Singing and taking skit, 14 minutes in (I) Good act, with catchy and tuneful songs, and comedy along new and original lines. Owing to the absence of Mr. Spencer's regular partner, he was obliged to secure the services of present assistant, who was as he says, his former associate. Whether or not this hurts his act cannot say, not having yet seen his regular partner. However, last night's audience seemed pleased and accepted the act as good. DUNBAR'S SALON SINGERS: In Moments Musical, 20 minutes full stage, special set. 2 women. 3 men. Very good act; Excellent choice of songs, rendered in a highly artistic manner. Scenery well night gorgeous, makes the stage picture one of great beauty. Made a tremendous hit, and were recalled innumerable times. Quite a most emphatic success for some time past. H.E. Parmenter Manager. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R.I. REPORT OF SHOW THURSDAY MAY 21, 1914. JEAN CHALLON: Vocalist, 9 minutes in (i) Good act, displaying a voice of excellent quality, and happy in the selection of songs rendered, her offering appeals strongly to the audience which was quick to recognize the excellence of her act. The cold and hoarseness with which she is afflicted makes her task doubly difficult, but happily, this fact escapes the notice of the audience. VON HAMPTON & JOSSELYN: Comedy, singing, talking and dancing, 17 minutes in (I) Man and Lady. One of the best acts of its kind ever played here. Excellent comedy occassions a veritable riot of laughter, and the audience was loudly enthusiastic in its reception of this truly excellent offering. Catchy song and clever dance interpolations are notable features of this act. PROF. HERMAN & CO: Magician, 24 minutes full stage. Man and lady. Best illusion act in the history of the house. As a prestidigitateur he is very clever, while his two big illusions are excellent. Act was well received. H.E. Parmenter Manager.
