BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 1914. RAY RANDELL & CO: Ventriloquial Novelty, 12 min. F.S. Special Drop. 2 men. Fairly clever ventriloquist, yet not so capable as some we have had here. From a scenic standpoint the act is very good, there being an abundance of pretty scenic, and clever mechanical effects. Went well with the audience. BILL FOSTER & CO. Who's Who. 15 minutes (1) 2 men. Excellent act. Plenty of brand new and infectious comedy, interspersed with good vocal renditions. Received tumultuous applause the audience being delighted with their efforts. AJAX & EMILIE: Posing and feats of strength, 12 minutes F.S. Special drop. Lady and Man. Posings display great muscular development, and the many feats of strength were a delight to witness. The act is a novelty new to this city, and was greatly appreciated in consequence. BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R. I. REPORT OF SHOW THURSDAY SEPT. 10, 1914. LAWRENCE & HURL-FALLS: Acrobatic act, 7 minutes, full stage. Along the same lines as other acts of this kind; The comedy has a few good moves quite new especially the finish which is really very good. COATES, KEENE & JOHNSON: Singing and dancing, 11 minutes (1) 1 Lady. 2 Men. Some rather clever dancing, but the singing is rather weak. Made very little impression. JUSTIN ADAMS & CO: Comedy sketch, 23 minutes C.D.F 2 Ladies. 2 Men. Good comedy sketch, well written and well acted. Gets plenty of laughs and went well at the finish. Note; Miss Spencer being so late in arriving I solicited an act from Boston to supplant her. After doing so Miss Spencer arrived about 1 P. M., But as the act from Boston was then upon its way and there being no way to intercept them it was necessary to close Miss Spencer. The act from Boston arrived in time for the evening performance upon which occasion they quickly proved that their act did not constitute Bijou vaudeville. Talking to Mr. Fraser on the telephone he sanctioned my desire to close the act. Mr. Fraser supplied us with the above mentioned sketch which is easily the hit of the bill. I talked to Mr. Woods regarding Miss Spencer's non-appearance and he could give me no information, she not having forwarded any photographs and he advised me to secure another act. [W. E. Parmenter?] Manager.
