REPORT on BOSTON SHOW for WEEK of OCTOBER 19th - 1914 (R. G. Larsen) CELTIC TRIO 11 minutes in one. Garden. Two women and one man. A very good singing act. Might go further down on the bill. EDWARD FARRELL and COMPANY 19 minutes f.s. C.D.F. In the old Eva Taylor sketch, "After the Wedding." This is the same boisterous comedy, and played by a very good company. Got over in good shape. WALTER SHANNON and MARIE ANNIS 18 minutes in two. Interior. Another old timer, "The Bootblack Stand." Went over in great shape at both shows. Good comedy and singing. JACK E. GARDNER 14 minutes in one. Picture Sheet. On account of the fire laws here, Gardner was unable to use his moving picture machine behind the screen, and worked it from the front. But the audience did not know the difference, and it went over in great shape. One of the best novelties we have played in a long time. If Gardner can work this effect from the front, he can save the expense of toting a moving picture booth, machine and operator around the country, and make quite a cut. But it must be admitted that the figures are much larger when thrown from the front, whereas the other way they are life-size, and he can shake hands with them. MABELLE and BALLET 15 minutes f.s. Special Set. This is one of the prettiest dancing acts we have ever played. They were a bright spot in the show, and went over in great shape afternoon and evening, closing strong. MINDELL KINGSTON and GEORGE EBNER 19 minutes in one. A very fair singing and talking act. Held the spot. AMELIA BINGHAM and CO in "BIG MOMENTS FROM GREAT PLAYS" 36 minutes f.s. Special Sets. House Palace. this is a good act. But it has again been demonstrated that the dramatic does not make an appeal in this house. I think it is the first time that Miss Bingham has not been called before the curtain at the close of her act. This afternoon, in order to get full value out of Lipinsky's Dogs, we tried closing the show with Miss Bingham. Our star attraction could not hold them in. The house was empty when she was through. Tonight, with an easier spot on the bill, one curtain was all she honestly got. JACK RYAN and HARRY TIERNEY 13 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. A very good act with a hard spot, following Miss Bingham. got over well, but not as strong as they did in New York. LIPINSKY'S DOGS 17 minutes f.s. Special Set. It is almost a crime to have this act close a show. But there was no way out of it with this big bill, and the failure of Miss Bingham to hold the spot. Notwithstanding, they held the audience in and were a decided sensation.
