H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW MAR. 22, 1915. HEARST SELIG PICTURES. 14 min. Up to the average this week, several of the pictures being of local color which added interest. CLAIRMONT BROS. 6 min. Two men, one straight and one in clown makeup on a revolving ladder. Routine of ordinary tricks but the act did well enough for an opener. LIGHTNER & JORDAN. 14 min. Two girls with a piano. A very good selection of songs which they put over with good effect. Nice looking act and was very well received, closing strong. MAUD ROCHEZ. "A Night in a Monkey Music Hall." 14 min. The comedy worked up by the orchestra which is composed of monkeys is the feature of this act, the work of the monkeys on the miniature stage being rather weak and poorly handled. The orchestra, however, got a liberal supply of laughs and the act registered a fair sized hit. CHARLEY CASE. 16 min. Uses material along the same line as ever but most of it is new and he finishes with a new song. His droll style of comedy met with the usual favor here and he was the recipient of a warm hand of applause at the finish. NAZIMOVA. 31 min. In "War Brides." Nazimova is the first one to hold over a second week in a dramatic sketch in this house and in addition to holding the audience to the closest kind of attention, received enough of applause to warrant several curtain calls at the finish of vaudeville's best dramatic sketch. ROXY LA ROCCA. 11 min. A man harpist. Very good player using classical and popular music which pleased the audience and won him plenty of applause. MATTHEWS, SHAYNE & CO. 24 min. Offering an act called "Dreamland" for the first time here and scored a big hit with it in next-to-closing position. Matthews appears in his usual "dope" character and Shayne handles the comedy in a character role in a way that keeps the laughs going at a rapid pace. Matthews also scored well with an individual song number and the singing at the close took them off to applause which lasted through several bows. LORETTA TWINS. 5 min. A pair of pretty girls on the triple horizontal bars. Do a very showy routine of tricks, some of them unusually difficult for girls and in the closing position, they held the house seated long enough to be warmly applauded at the finish. GENERAL REMARKS. This show is better than it played Monday afternoon owing to the fact that the audience was made up principally of women drawn by the second week of Nazimova. With our regular audience and no repeater as the headliner, it would have hit a high mark of success.
