Report on Providence show week of April 5, 1915. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week, while a fairly good one, shows up disappointingly after last week's excellent show. The wisdom of holding over "War Brides" for a second week is shown by a good house this afternoon and a good sale for the balance of the week. FRANK WHITMAN "The Dancing Violinist". A good act of the kind that went well and could have held a little better spot. 9 minutes in one. WOODMAN & LIVINGSTON A nice, clean looking, youthful couple who do the modern ball-room dancing with a little elaboration in a graceful manner that won approval. 12 minutes F. S. VIOLA GILLETTE & NED MONROE These folks have a good idea but it has not been properly worked out. The thing should be wholly re-written before they can expect anything worthy of their respective abilities. It is all right in this spot and at the money I am paying them but I would not say anything better about it. 20 minutes. Short opening in one, closes in three. BYAL & EARLY Man and woman in an act of singing with some grotesque work by the woman. Good act for this spot. Would not advise them for any more difficult place. 12 minutes in one. MILTON & DELONG SISTERS Milton is an excellent comedian and has a lot of good material but is badly handicapped by the two worst cases of excess baggage on the vaudeville stage,-the Delong Sisters. In spite of them he got over very well. 20 minutes open F. S. 5 minutes close in one. "WAR BRIDES" Second week and a big demonstration of applause at Miss Varesi's entrance showed that she was welcomed as a hold over. The act went as strong as it did last week and I see no reason to change my opinion expressed in last week's report. 32 minutes F. S. MULLER & STANLEY About 10 minutes of this act is very good then it grows tiresome because of the forced comedy. 17 minutes in one. ORVILLE HARROLD Mr. Harrold did not make the success that I had hoped for. He may go better to-night. At least one of his songs is not worthy of him. He got strong applause for his "Pagliacci" and went well with his "Falling in Love with Someone". His last song fell pretty flat. 12 minutes in one. DERKIN'S ANIMALS Well known act of this kind which, while not as clever probably in detail and training as Lipinski's act, has more comedy and is more desirable considering the difference in price. 12 minutes F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
