H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW MAY 3, 1915. HEARST SELIG PICTURES. Fair average of pictures this week. BLACK BROS. 9 min. Banjo and piano numbers followed by a dancing finish by two boys who work in evening clothes. The music used is of the popular brand and well handled. Did nicely in the opening spot. WILLS & HASSAN. 9 min. A very showy exhibition of hand-to-hand and head balancing by two men. They do a number of very startling feats all executed in a picturesque manner. A very good acrobatic novelty. Went big. HARRY & EVA PUCK. 17 min. Their act called "Sunshine and Flowers" includes singing, piano-playing and dancing at the finish. The girl makes three costume changes of very attractive appearance and the young man puts over a piano number with good results. TOBY CLAUDE & CO. 21 min. The little English comedienne has a company of three, two men and a woman with her in her offering called "La Petite Revuette." It is a new idea for introducing character bits which Miss Claude helped to make famous in "The Belle of New York" and "Chinese Honeymoon." Several song numbers and bits of dancing are introduced during the action of the piece. William Smythe is Miss Claude's principal support, and the two secure excellent results from their songs. Act scored very well here. EVA CONDON, JACK DEVEREAUX & CO., in "The Same Old Thing." 13 F.S. This is a novelty in the sketch line wherein a playlet is started on the stage and is interrupted at a critical and most dramatic point by the appearance of the author in the audience who interrupts them by telling them how they should not play the scenes. It brings a big comedy point right in the midst of a supposed dramatic scene and causes a big laugh which is kept right up to the finish. Is an excellent comedy number and scored strong. RUTH ROYE. 14 min. With four songs all of a comedy kind, she repeated the big hit she made here last season. All but two of her songs are new and each number was liberally applauded. She was forced to make a little speech of thanks at the finish. "THE SPRING FASHION SHOW. 29 min. The first of its kind ever offered in vaudeville is a marvellous display of women's wearing apparel displayed by twenty selected models headed by Peggy Hopkins, the noted Washington society woman. This is an act that will make people talk, especially the women, and it kept the big house buzzing with talk during the entire exhibition on Monday. Aside from its display feature, it is an excellent advertising medium on any bill. THE VOLUNTEERS. 15 min. A corking good singing novelty with a lot of comedy that gets good laughs liberally distributed and some very catchy vocal music well handled. Act scored a big hit here. THE FIVE STATUES. 8 min. A decidedly pretty novelty posing act, the four men and one woman doing some showy hand balancing and strength feats in addition to their picture posing. Act was very well liked in the closing spot. (This act is known as Four Nightons) GEN. REMARKS. This is a very good vaudeville show surrounding a big novelty and furnished a very pleasing program all the way through. CUTS TOBY CLAUDE & CO. Reference to "Three Weeks"
