186 REPORT ON [ILLEGIBLE] [ILLEGIBLE] BOSTON - WEEK OF JULY [??] - 1916 [?].G.Larsen [SARA?] [ILLEGIBLE] TRIO 6 minutes fs. Special set. Two girls and a man in a fast hoop rolling and baton juggling act. Very good opener. [illegible] and [SEGAL?] 15 minutes in one. Special drop. Singing and dancing set with a little story running through it. Man and woman. All right for spot. HARRY [ILLEGIBLE] and CO in "[ADAM KILL JOY?]" 10 minutes fs. C.D.F. Comedy sketch, two men and one woman. Got many laughs and went over first-rate. GEORGE LYONS 15 minutes in one. Garden drop. Formerly of Lyons and [Fosco?]. Songs and harp selections. His announcements are in verse, and rather neatly turned. Put over a decided hit. [ILLEGIBLE] ALLEN and [illegible] HOWARD in "A [REAL?] PAL" 18 minutes in two. Special drops. Can work in one, if necessary. Two men and one woman. A story of two traveling salesmen stranded in a "dry" Western village on Sunday. One steals the other's girl, but gives up his conquest when the "pal" appears with a case of beer concealed in a baby carriage. The lines are clever, well put over, and got the laughs. A good comedy set. [Illegible] [Illegible]'s [Illegible] SOUTHERN [Illegible] [Illegible} minutes in one. Street drop. These men have a special drop, but it failed to arrive in time for either show Monday. They have excellent voices and a splendid repertoire of Southern songs. Put over one of the applause hits of the show. [FLORENCE?] [ILLEGIBLE] and CO in "PANSY'S [ILLEGIBLE] [ILLEGIBLE]" 17 minutes f.s. Dark tapestry interior. A crook play with considerable comedy injected into the piece by Miss [Wash?]'s tough waitress character. A surprise finish that brought the curtain down to a big hand. AL [SHAYNE?] 12 minutes in one. Olio Drop. [Shayne?] is working in the Hebrew dress suit makeup he wore with Bobby Matthews, but is assisted by an Italian cornet player planted in the orchestra, who gets into an argument with [Shayne?] and goes upon the stage to show him how to sing. Put over a solid hit, with a very strong finish. It does seem, however, that acts like this should do more than 12 minutes. Monday afternoon Shayne only did 11, and the curtain fell twenty minutes early with nine sets on the bill. [ILLEGIBLE] [ILLEGIBLE] 9 minutes fs. Special set. These boys call themselves "sensational jugglers of human beings," and that described the act about as well as anything. Some of their tosses from hand-to-hand stands, two and three high, are really wonderful. For a finish one does a dive down an elevated 20-foot chute, a la desperado, ending up with a hand stand. This made the audience gasp. A thoroughly satisfactory closing act, which might be featured, if desirable. The act is one hundred per cent better than when we [layed?] it some years ago, and it was a good act then.
