BOSTON SHOW REPORT WEEK of SEPTEMBER 25, '16. R. G. Larsen FRANK LEDENT 13 minutes in two. Special drapery. Comedy juggling with electrical effects. A good act of the kind. Satisfactory opener. WELLS, NORWORTH and MOORE 13 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Two men and a girl with piano, songs and a little talk. The comedian with this turn is clever. He gets the act over. The other two are merely feeders. A lively turn that woke things up in good shape. E. MERIAN'S SWISS CANINE ACTORS 13 minutes f.s. Two special sets. This act was rather a disappointment. It failed to duplicate the hit with which it has been credited in other places. Went fairly well at night. FRANKER WOOD and BUNEE WYDE in "That's All Right" 16 minutes in one. Special drop. About the same as their old act, with a new twist and an effective setting on board ship. Going well. "PROSPERITY" with EZRA MATTHEWS and CO 16 minutes in two and one-half. Special drop. This made the third quiet act in succession, and it is impossible to re-arrange the show to separate them. An allegorical playlet about "Thrift" and "Pretense," well played, and getting over in pretty good shape. THE LEIGHTONS 18 minutes in one. Special Drop. These boys are great favorites in Boston. Received a reception on their entrance, and proceeded to put over the hit of the show. Have a new song, something on the order of "Frankie and Johnnie," and a "Hula Hula" dance that brought a strong finish. WALTER SHANNON, MARIE ANNIS and CO in "The Garden of Love" 26 minutes f.s. Special drop in one and cyclorama in f.s. Very short opening in one. This is a good act. Four men and one woman in an Egyptian operetta with scenes laid at the Pyramids. The singing is excellent, a bit of comedy is introduced, and the production a rathe spectacular affair. Held the interest and closed well. NAT C. GOODWIN 19 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Mr Goodwin received a good reception upon his entrance, and he has some good stories, - Irish, Jewish, English and American, - which are well told. Closes with "Gungha Dhin," and we have never had a better recitation of Kipling's poem than Mr Goodwin is giving this week. He should draw a little business and in a strong bill, would be a good headliner. BELLECLAIRE BROTHERS 9 minutes f.s. Garden. Open in plush drapery in one. Close f.s. These boys have a difficult routine of hand-to-hand balancing, and the close, with a loop-the-loop to a hand-to-hand stand, is spectacular. Excellent closing act. CUTS Wells, Norworth and Moore - Mother-in-law song and "Hell, Hell, Hello." "Prosperity" - "Damn" Wood and Wyde - "Damn" COMMENT While we have not a single bad act this week, the show lacks speed and ginger. Wells, Norworth and Moore, and The Leightons were the only turns that stirred things up much.
