H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW OCT. 23, 1916. SAMAROFF & SONIA. 9 min. This is a very pretty little dog act shown by a man and woman in Russian costume. Introduce a bit of dancing at the opening. Act is nicely staged and furnished a good opener. HAL & FRANCIS. 15 min. Man and woman in a singing, talking and comedy skit, called, "Town and Country." Their material is a little light-waisted and handled rather slow but got some laughs and the act did fairly well, finishing with a song and dance. WILLIAM & MARGARET CUTTY. 16 min. Brother and sister, formerly of the Six Musical Cuttys. Their program consists of piano and cello numbers and finishes with a vocal duet. This is a classy looking act that will be appreciated by music lovers and was very well received here. WINSOR McCAY. 11 min. The famous cartoonist introduces his wonderful moving cartoon called "Gertie," a comedy picture which he lectures on during the time that it is shown, getting some laughs and finishing to liberal applause. CHARLES KELLOGG. 22 min. The Nature Singer. He held the audience at close attention during the entire time he was on the stage with his bird songs and exhibition of woodcraft which is not only entertaining but highly interesting. At the finish he was liberally applauded. MAY NAUDAIN. 15 min. Accompanied by Anatol Friedland. This young girl has considerable reputation as a musical comedy star. She sang several songs accompanied by Mr. Friedland at the piano and he played a medley of his own composition after her first number. She makes a very attractive appearance and has a pleasing voice. The act scored a good sized hit. "THE AGE OF REASON." 19 min. With Vivian and Genevieve Tobin. This playlet, which is one of the Washington Square Players series, can take its place among one of the real comedy gems of vaudeville. It is a splendidly written story around an unusual theme and the playing of the two young artistes in the principal role made a firm impression upon the audience. The sketch will fit in most any vaudeville bill and make good on its merits. It was very well received here. JACK WILSON. 30 min. He is doing about the same he has always done, with the exception of burlesquing the acts on the current week's bill. He has a lot of good comedy talk but there is much of it that had to be eliminated. Got plenty of laughs and the singing in the act was up to its usual standard. The act registered a solid hit. THE FIVE KITAMURAS. 9 min. This very pretty acrobatic act with its elaborate stage setting and costuming did very well in the closing position. They work rapidly and all their tricks are well handled. They finished to a good hand. GENERAL REMARKS. This show came fully up to expectations in every respect carrying lots of class and comedy and getting over in great shape. After the first show, in order to split the comedy better, Kellogg and "The Age of Reason" exchanged places which will make a better balanced bill. CUTS HAL & FRANCIS: Expression "Oh, Lord!" JACK WILSON: Elimination of expressions "My God," Oh, the flats he knows" and "son-of-a-gun." Also the speaking to a man leaving the theatre.
