REPORT on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of JANUARY 22, 1917. CHARLES LOVENBERG, Manager. The show this week went very well indeed with the Monday audiences. Business started in very heavy and the advance sale indicates a very big week. The Demacos Man and woman in a ring act with special garden setting. A very nice turn. 8 Minutes Full Stage Hamilton & Barnes This couple are quite clever and have a lot of good material. They could easily hold a much better spot on the bill, and are making good most decidedly where they are placed. 16 Minutes In One. Hopkins-Axtell Co In their well known act "Traveling". A very good idea and some good material which would go much better in the hands of more competent people. These people "got away with it" in spite of the fact that they do not do it especially well. 17 Minutes. Opens and closes In One (the close In One, however, is very short.) Harry & Eva Puck In a very attractive singing specialty with a little light comedy that went over very well indeed. They deserve credit for a very elaborate setting and a new idea in boy and girl acts. 15 Minutes Opens and Closes In Two. (It would be safer to rank this as a Full Stage act on account of the various drops and hangings. Chas. Olcott Well known pianologue act that made its usual hit. 19 Minutes In One. Macart & Bradford In a new sketch, "Love, Honor and Obey". It contains plenty of laughs. 23 Minutes Full Stage. Bert Hanlon A monologuist with a very unusual style and some excellent material. Went over very well indeed. 17 Minutes In One. Mildred Macomber & Co. This elaborate act not only held the audience to the finish but pleased them immensely also, and - best of all - drew two tremendous houses on the day while the advance sale for the week - as stated above - is particularly big. There is no doubt as to its drawing capabilities and it makes good likewise. I am glad I have it. 22 Minutes Full Stage. Motion Pictures O. K. CUTS Demacos The business of the lady deliberately pulling down her skirt while the man is hanging by her feet. This should be done without any attempt to attract attention to escape vulgarity. Hamilton & Barnes The "Twin Beds" joke. Change music at the finish from "When I get you alone tonight" to something else. Harry & Eva Puck Take off sign on lady's back "We wish you twins". Chas. Olcott "Damn" "Hell". Macart & Bradford "Devil" Bert Hanlon Joke about "V shaped dresses".
