Boston, Mass. B.F.Keith's May 28th 7 McCLURE and DOLLY 8 minutes f.s. Special set. These people have some difficult balancing tricks, with a little juggling mixed in. The stunts are good, but the act lacks the finish of European arcobatic acts. An acceptable opener. RALPH DUNBAR'S OLD-TIME DARKIES 17 minutes in one. Special drop. Second time here of this act. Went over in this spot. ARTHUR HAVEL and CO in "PLAYMATES" 19 minutes f.s. Centre door fancy. Four people in a comedy sketch with a little singing. A wealthy widow hires a youngster from Jerry McAuley's Mission to play with her little son, "Reggie." Although bearing all the earmarks of a sissie, "Reggie" proceeds to "clean-up" the newcomer with everything from chewing tobacco to boxing-gloves. A funny act, written along original lines, and got the laughs. FRANK CRUMMIT 15 minutes in one. Olio drop. This man has a quiet, pleasing voice, and his manner of working is very effective. Offers songs, stories and some musical selections. A hit. DAN BURKE and GIRLS in "THE OLD MASTER" 20 minutes f.s. Special set. This is a pretty act. The story of an old dancing master, living in the shadow of Drury Lane Theatre in London, whose pupil is about to make her debut as a dancer. While she is at the theatre, dancing, the old man sees in his dreams the various stars he has brought out in years gone by. The setting is quaint and prettily lighted, the dancing exceptionally good, and the whole interwoven into an appealing story. The act went over big at both shows Monday. WATSON SISTERS 22 minutes in one. Special olio drop. These girls are singing published numbers that have been sung to death in this house. Yet they put them over by sheer force of personality. Going very well. YVETTE 12 minutes in two. Special set. Eccentric singing and dancing violinist in a Josef Urban setting. The act is beautifully staged, and Yvette got over in good shape. LAURIE and BRONSON 25 minutes in one. Street. This act was the laughing hit of the show. "THE FOREST FIRE" with SYLVIA BIDWELL CO 35 minutes f.s. Special sets. Second time here for this act, and going very strong. The cast is good, while the scenic and electrical effects are marvelous. Held the audience to the finish, although the show ran nearly 15 minutes late Monday night. CUTS Arthur Havel & Co - mention of "Jim Jam Jims" in song.
