PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S DEC. 17, 77 PATHE. 13 min. Some very good war pictures featured. MANKICHI JAPS. 12 min. Three men in a routine of barrel-juggling and top-spinning. The usual act of this kind, attractively staged and furnished a good opener. ADELINE FRANCIS. 15 min. This is the same act she has been doing for several years, using a graphaphone as a partner. With a couple of up-to-date songs, she did very nicely. BENNETT & RICHARDS. 17 min. "Dark Clouds." Their novel opening furnished a big surprise and they went right through to one of the big laughing and applause hits of the bill. The eccentric dancing is a scream and all their comedy, which is well handled, brought results. They took several extra bows. MORTON & GLASS. 14 min. This couple are favorites here and were as big a hit as usual. Miss Glass suffered with a heavy cold which handicapped her singing, but the rest of their work was up to their standard and the ragtime finish took them off to a liberal hand. DOROTHY BRENNER. 15 min. A very good single. She gave four songs, all new here, finishing with a kid recitation that brought her a big laugh at the finish. She made three changes of costume, all of them good looking and finished to a very good hand. BERT MELROSE. 18 min. His usual work with the tables was just as big a laughing hit as ever and he finished strong. ROONEY & BENT. 23 min. Although this team has played Keith's more often than any other act in vaudeville, they were warmly received with their new vehicle. Their offering is along the same lines as their old act with a lot of new talk and the usual amount of dancing which scored. Miss Bent displayed three handsome gowns. They finished strong. SAM BERNARD. 19 min. This well known comedian worked in German makeup and used German dialect, but this made no difference with our audience. He was given a great reception, kept the audience laughing all the time and closed big. He has made little change in his monologue since last seen here. BRENGK'S STATUE HORSE. 7 min. Owing to the failure of their horse and baggage trunk to arrive from Washington, this act worked under a handicap at the first show. They purchased material and bronze paint and did a series of poses rather than disappoint the audience. Their work is pretty and artistic and in the closing position and following a fast comedy show, they were given plenty of attention and a liberal hand. GENERAL REMARKS. A very good show for the week before Christmas and a crowded house at the first performance promised good business for the week despite the holiday handicap. The bill was thoroughly satisfactory after Sam Bernard was placed following Dorothy Brenner.
