Page 46 Fantasy-Times FANTASY-TIMES "The Leading Fantasy Newspaper" Published every week by James V. Taurasi, 101-02 Northern Blvd., Corona, New York. Domestic Ed: 5[cent] ea. 6 for 25[cent]. British Ed: 6 issues for 1/-. Air Mail Ed: (US Only) 10[cent] ea. Editor-in-Chief: James V. Taurasi Co-Editors: Ray Van Houten and Sam Moskowitz Associate Editor: Al Brown Assistant Editors: Alex Osheroff and Joe Kennedy Science Editor: Thomas S. Gardner Film Editor: David Kishi "A Cosmic Publication" EDITORIAL THE FOX WOMEN & FFM by James V. Taurasi editor of Fantasy-Times We of Fantasy-Times would like to make a suggestion to the editors of Famous Fantastic Mysteries the stf mag of book reprints. We have read most of the books you have recently reprinted in FFM and have also read the many letters asking for more Merritt stories. Frankly your pick of stories lately have been more and more on the horror side than the fantasy, and your company's reprint policy prevents the reprinting of the few Merritt's stories left because they were previously printed in magazine form. Ah, but there is one yarn of Merritt that hasn't appeared in magazine form. The Fox Woman is that novel, and a mighty good one at that. Tho the book has but recently come out, it is out of print, and the few issues now in the book dealer's hands command a super high price. We would like to suggest that you buy this yarn for publication in Famous Fantastic Mysteries. We would like further to suggest that you also reprint all the excellent Bok drawings that appear in the book, (including the "variant" nude). Finlay should be obtained to do the cover. How about it, Mrs. Gnaedinger? How do you like the idea, Fantasy Times readers? Let us know. SCIENTIBOOKS (continued from page 45, column 2) on all stands in a Bantam Books pocket-edition at 25[cent]. -jk On The Newsstand Reviewed by Lane Stannard A beautiful weird cover sports the 2nd issue of Avon Fantasy Reader. Wollheim has picked some neat yarns for this second issue. We pick Keller's Stenographer's Hands as the best in the issue with Manning & Pratt's The City of the Living Dead as a close second. All this magazine needs is interior illustrations and we know just the boy that can do them, John Giunta. What's your cover artist's name, Don? We would like to see a better cover title format, those on the 1st & 2nd issues were out of character. WANTED! The following mags at reasonable prices: ASTOUNDING: 1938 - Aug. 1943 - May, June. 1944 - Feb., Apr., Aug., Sept. 1945 - Jan., June. FAMOUS FANTASTIC MYSTERIES: 1940 - Aug., Oct. 1942 - Nov. 1944 - June, Sept., Dec. 1945 - Mar. I want only good to excellent copies, with covers intact. No "dealers' prices" please! These mags aren't worth $1.50 apiece -- even to me. Red Boggs 2215 Benjamin St NE Minneapolis 13, Minn
