FANEWS WEEKLY Published weekly by: Walter Dunkelberger 1443 4th Ave., So. Fargo, North Dakota 2c @. 13 for 25c Whole Number: 53 July 31st, 1944. _____________________________ Your New Editor Speaks---- It is customary for every new editor and publisher to state or to restate the policies of the paper. I would like to take this opportunity to inform all of the readers of FANNEWSCARD of my intentions. FIRST: The NEWSCARD will continue exactly as Frank and Ed have conducted it in the past. On a purely democratic basis. SECOND: The size and format of FANEWSCARD will remain the same. There may be a short period during which it will be hecto’d instead of mimeo’d until we mastered the art of mimeoing postcards. THIRD: Every fanzine has a “free list”. We propose to make it possible for ALL to get on the “free list”. As FANEWSCARD has no regular reporters we solicit the readers’ aid. For every news item sent in and printed you will give one issue of FANEWSCARD. In short, your subscription can be extended by sending in a printable news item. All items will be credited to the first one to send the item in. Credit will also appear in FANEWSCARD in the form of the individual’s name or initials. FOURTH: FANEWSCARD is open to suggestions of all sorts for the improvement of its service to its readers. If a column (lined or two) listing “wants” will be of benefit to all we are willing to list them. For example: “WANTED – Early WEIRD TALES” appears on the last line of a card. Any one who has some to dispose of should write to FANEWSCARD and the name and address of the individual wanting them would be sent by return mail. FANEWSCARD is Y O U R publication. It will be just as good or as bad as YOU MAKE IT. Your editor and publishers are only the mechanical means for expressing your wants. We are here to serve you. We can serve you best only when we know your desires. Your advice and help is earnestly solicited. ………………… Dunk N E W S F L A S H E S August 7th the Illustrated Editions Publishing Company of New York City, publishers of AVON books, have announced that they will release DWELLERS IN THE MIRAGE by A.
