1941 RHAPSODY LEGION 9 But, alas! when I pitched into her, she was already in vibration with another! She had merged with a D Sharp and between them they were making a most lively overtone. My metronome sank within me; I dropped ten scales in sheer agony. Through octave after octave I fell, passing like a drum beat through region after region. When at last I came to rest, I was in a Rhapsodic colony. The waves of Rhapsodians were rushing in tumult about me. A note grabbed me, queried; I nodded in my dejection. Before I knew it, I had been drafted into the Rhapsody Legion, now engaged in a desperate onflow against the Descordic svages that had first people this colony. So let me issue a dire warning to all these I leave behind. Never, never harmonize with a C Flat Minor. You have heard my sad story: beware. Beware! They are fickle, yea! Shun the Swingtimers as you would the plague, if ye wish to retain your measure. Beat on, oh Metronomer, in thy eternal swing! Beat on! [centered] THE END [line break] [centered] WADDYA KNOW? Q. "How many planets are there an can you name them?" - RWL, New York. A. There are twelve planets: -Vulcan, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Aster, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Barscom. [line break] [centered] There once was a fair Pterodactyl Who folded her wings on her back, till They atrophied quite And she couldn't take flight When pursued by a serpent contractile! [name on right side of page] - E. W. Bryant (1889) [line break]
