ASTONISHING STORIES [?] ISSUE [?] flash from Frederik Pohl, editor of Astonishing and Super [??] that there will [?] no June issue of the first mentioned of the two magazines. FFF presented a preview of the issue's cover and gave the lineup recently. This, states Pohl, will [?] as originally announced, except that date will be changed to August. .......................................................... Louis Russell Chauvenet's FANZINE REVIEW CFS REVIEW, Roy Hunt, at 1258 Race, Denver Colorado. To CFS members, of which there are now 86. 4 pages, giving membership list plus chitchat on Denvention, interesting except for superfluous acrobatics over corpse of Newarken. CFS membership. Recommended. DENVENTION[?] published by the CFS at above address. 15c to all. Two to six pages of various fanzines, such as VO[?], Snide, Comet, Alchemist, Pluto, and Damn Thing; stapled together -- 26 pp in all. Recommended as collector's item. Material mostly filler and leftovers. [?] [?] Warner, Jr. 303 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, Md. 10c and 3/25. March number particularly memorable for Tucker's "Confidential Notes on Editors", best item of fan writing we've seen in '41. Quality mimeo'ing, 22 pages. Comment on [?] deserve perusal. Recommended. FUTURIAN WAR DIGEST J.M. Rosenblum, 4 Grange Terrace, Leeds 7, England. 4 for 25c or 75c yearly. Has sustained monthly publication quite consistently. Comes stapled with various other British fans' two and four page publications. 'Fido' an the revivied Fantest are the only remaining British fanzines. Issue not on hand -- Feb -- has, in last number of Youd's [?] (Fantasy War Bulletin) the best description of an air-raid to reach us from England. As a whole, Fido is also good. Recommended. FUTURIAN WAR DIGEST March. Comes including The Gentlest Art, Moonshine, and Hellzapoppin. Also a thing called Tin Tacks. GA and Hellzapoppin represent an English equivalent of VOM. Recommended. FAN-ATIC, Volume 1, Number 2. C.A. Boling, Harringtonk Park, N.J. 15 Mimeoed pages. 5c. Considerable improvement on Vol 1 No 1. Ackerman, Widner, & D.B. Thompson appear. SPOTLITE Six members of the Minneapolis Fantasy Society dropped in on Phil Bronson Sunday, March 30 (John Chapman, Ollie Saari, Sam Russell, Morrie Dollens, one-time very prominent fan, and editor of The Science Fiction Collector has become an active fan all over again after replying to the MFS announcement in the current Astounding. He had along with him Sunday a 16 mm. motion picture camera and shot a bit of film of the MFS'ers in action. Bonson wnet around snapping candid camera shots. So candid, in fact, that the bunch did not know they were taken until long afterward. After the pictures were taken the six sat around taking the Bronson den apart. It is rumored that Bronson is still putting it together ... Begining with the third issue THE FANTASITE will be mimeographed, and perhaps in colors. It will feature material by Jacobi, Tucker, Ackerman, Russell, Brazier, the Columbia Boys (Hams and Pros) and others. In addition it will have work by the cream of the amateur fantasy artists: Wright, Studley, Jones, and Dollens. It will also have a surprise supplement. ...................................................... FANTASY FICTION FIELD ILLUSTRATED NEWS WEEKLY comes from Julius Unger, 1702 Dahil 1 Road, Brooklyn, New York. Single copies are 5c; 6 for 25c.
