interlineationsareasnapspacethemrightandtheycomeouteveneverytime THE BOX SCORE A: Fantasy Amateur. Full-Length Articles, En Gardes (Oct, Jan), Horizons, Fan-Tods, Browsing #10, Phanteur, The .... Thing. B: Sus Pro, Fan-Danging Program, Elmurmurings, a, Fantasy Critic, Browsing NS #2, Milty's Mag, Inspiration, Timebinder. C: BT -- His Mag, Tale of the 'Evans, Walt's Wramblings, Phantagraphs (June, Jul-Aug), Science-Fiction Savant, Light, Glom, Science*Fiction, Beyond. D: Phantagraphs (Sept, Oct), Guteto(e?)s, Mag Without a Name, Falling Petals. This classification was compiled rather arbitrarily, rather hurriedly. The individual items in it are roughly in order of merit under Anderson's somewhat fluctuating system of achievement, which is based on the amount of worth there appears to be in the publication, respective or irrespective, according to my mood, of the size of the publication. Simply state, which I should have done in the first place, these grades are derived from a multiplication of the amount by the quality by the value which I attack to the item. FA is not rated with the others, but gets a rating according to how well it does its duties. givethreecheersforthegaragedwellerwhoismovingoutandsellinghisstock FAPARAMA BEING A FEW PAGES of miscellaneous notes and remarks on the last mailing, which I think was the 34th. If I had written any letters in the last three months at all, you probably wouldn't have to wade through so much of this in order to get to the best part of the whole issue, which is the cartoon on the back page. FANTASY AMATEUR: Neat, precise, complete. What else is desired of an official publication whose purpose is to supply information to the membership? (Besides low-cost production, and dittoing is cheap) The FA did what it was supposed to do this time, and so earns an A for itself. B.T. --- HIS MAG: I refer to you, HPP, to page 8, whereon Anderson joins the funny clipping club. You should have seen one of the local Hearst papers the day they bounced the radar beam off the moon. They had a large drawing on the front page of scientifictional ant-people in a super-city. These, according to the caption, were Martians as they might be found when interplanetary travel became reality, and were a happy lot, untroubled as they were with strikes, labor unions, ration boards, communists, price administrators and new dealers.
