FANFILE Page 19 FOR SALE! Nope, sorry, no first issue of AMAZING for a dime. But we do have a few books which some fan might like to add to a collection: (All items postpaid.) Every one of these books was sold before the release of this mag!!! [Following titles have been struck out.] KING KONG -- almost perfect condition, with some newspaper clippings about the picture. 35c ATLANTIDA, By Pierre Benoit -- the LA Public Library values their copy at $7.50. You can have this one, a trifle worn on the edges, for 50c. DISTANT WORLDS, By Friedrich Mader. Translated from the German, in which it sold eleven editions. Perfect condition. 50c DIAN OF THE LOST LAND, By Edison Marshall. Yarn about a hidden valley in the Antarctic continent. Good condition. 35c BETWEEN WORLDS, By Garret Smith -- If you didn't get one of the "only few left" that TWS had, get this one for 30c. A PLUNGE INTO SPACE, By Robert Cromie -- A really rare item. Published 1891, with a preface by Jules Verne. Perfect condition, $2.25. THE WORLD'S DESIRE, By H. Rider Haggard and Andrew Lang -- Haggard's only collaboration, according to 4e. Paper bound, 25c. MARVEL TALES, Crawford magazine. 2 copies of March-April, 1935, issue, 15c apiece. Perfect condition. Get your AFTER ARMAGEDDON and BLACK NOON now! Only a few left! The rest of our collection has been disposed of. Promags, originals, indices, some fmz, and the aluminum plate of the Paule VoMaiden -- the first and best one, we think. No longer can we lie in bed mornings and gaze up at her. But that's life. We have no copies of any of our magazines for sale. Every copy has been sold, exchanged or sent to England and Australia. But we do have two items -- AFTER ARMAGEDDON AND OTHERS, by Fywert Kinge. 10c BLACK NOON AND OTHERS, by Fywert Kinge. 10c If you didn't get a copy of the first when it came out, send a dime. If you want a copy of the second, send another one. Positively no exchanges. On this last page we were going to take pot shots at different people: Walter J. Daugherty and the Pacificon, which is going to pot because Walt has lost all interest; E. Everett Evans for thinking that a few fans can really influence the professional magazines, enlarge their circulation, and then demand all the things that fans have yelled for for so many years; Olon F. Wiggins and Art Widner Jr. for uncalledfor displays of racial and national prejudice; the FAPA; the NFFF; the Futurians, Wollheim and Michel in particular, for attempting to swing fandom into drum-beating and flag-waving support of the war. And others we can't remember now. But we won't do it. We love everybody, in spite of or because of their faults. We've immensely enjoyed our career as an active fan and a fan publisher, and we are sorry that circumstances force us to curtail it. When we will take up fan activity again is uncertain, but we will always keep up our interest and reading in fantasy and stf. After all, a habit of fifteen years' standing is pretty hard to break! So, until the world sees brighter days again, I remain, Yours, [Signed Arthur Lous Joquel, II] Arthur Louis Joquel, II
