THE FANTASITE ............... 25 Fanta Scripts H̲A̲R̲R̲Y̲ ̲W̲A̲R̲N̲E̲R̲,̲ ̲J̲r̲.̲ Tne new issue of The Fantasite arrived, and finally got around to reading it. That means I like it, too, for I have a half-dozen unread fan magazines on hand dating back tho last six and eight weeks. This was a swell issue; ..much better than the first, and the first was very much okay. The photo would be almost "worth the dime itself---would be worth the dime, in fact; most fans charge a nickel for ordinary kodak size photos. Needless to say, the yellow covers help immensely to prevent ragged edges, Hektoing is beyond reproach in my copy, and the even margins make the appearance better. As to material I think I liked best Sam Russell's article on the Looks as though for once there's going to be a club which neither sets out to reform the world nor degenerates into someplace to go once a month, A few more ought to try to hit a happy medium as the MFS is going to aim for; it would lengthen the life of them too, I'll bet. And incidentally, don't you think an article about the members of the club would, be of interest? Now that we have their photos and are pretty well acquainted with the names, some dope about them---biographies, sort of—should be intensely interesting. Russell's poem very spiffy; he's about the only one in fandom that can write that sort of verse and make it enjoyable. I won't go into everything in detail this time, for there's so much in this issue, so suffice it to say that the whole thing appealed to me immensely. Oh, yes — and are you planning to make "Recommended Reading" a regular feature? Hope so, for I'd like to see more articles and features on fantasy books in American fan magazines. Jones' drawing swell; the fan artist situation is another thing immensely improved over a year or so ago. At that time Taurasi, Guinta, Baltadonis, Agnew, and one or two others were the only ones to choose from; now there's you, Wright, Knight, Jenkins, Jenkinson, Jones, and several more, all with definite ability. ((Thanks for all the bouquets, Harry, and the biographies start in this issue.)) 303 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, Maryland B̲O̲B̲ ̲M̲A̲D̲S̲E̲N̲ Have you heard about the "Fantasite"? Yes? Well we'll tell you all about it anyhow. It's about the neatest hektoed job I've seen, and for once the illustrations go above the usual fan mag trend and are not of "scaly Veuusians" and blazing ray guns. So far, so good. B̲u̲t̲ ye ed sez if the number of subscribers pile any higher, he's gonna mimeograph it! D̲o̲n̲'̲t̲, for god's sake, mimeograph it! You've got too good a thing as it is- Be consistent in your editorial policy of no fan fiction. Fan fiction stinks. ''Fantasips" of Brazier are good..Very refreshing. In fact, it seemed to be the only lift in an otherwise sober, thoroughgoing fan mag, Maybe you did a bad thing in cutting off
