Fantasy Fiction Field Illustrated News Weekly appears, oddly enough, weekly, and is edited by Julius Unger, 1702 Dahill Road, Brooklyn, New York. A nickel a copy; 6 for 25c. Assistant newsgathering apprentice: Charles Hidley; publisher: Harry Warner, Jr. Published on the Doubledoubletoilandtrouble Mimegraph. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' The 1941 YEARBOOK of Science, Weird, and Fantasy Fiction will soon be ready for distribution. This index to all the professional magazines published last year contains complete information on each and every story, giving the title, author, length, type, illustrator and date of appearance, as well as much pertinent data on the magazines themselves. This is a "must" item, something you don't want to do without. The Yearbook this time will be larger than ever, covering stfantasy's biggest year. Special features: an English and a Canadian section. The Yearbook has been found by all fans, readers, and collectors to be an invaluable aid. Don't miss out on getting your copy. In spite of rising costs and larger size, the price remains at 20c. Order your copy (or copies) from Larry Shaw, 1301 State Street, Schenectady, New York. ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() SPOTLITE Larry Farsaci in town for three days. Unger and Larry do town up brown: see Finlay, Campbell, Paul, Gnaedinger, La Spina, Cummings and daughter, etc. Highlight of affair was Larry getting lost in heart of Times Square and all three of us (Betty and Ray Cummings and Julie) taking turns looking for him. We failed to find him but he finally turned up after one and one half hours. He only went around the corner to get his valise--but couldn't find the checking joint and then couldn't locate the hotel. Some fun, eh kids? ... Also with this issue we are sending out the last of the FFMs to appear on the stands under the Munsey banner, the December, 1942 issue, featuring Finlay's most entrancing cover for Farley's "Golden City". Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! This was sponsored by Tom Daniels, of Album fame. Tom received an humdinger of an original Paul from Mary Gnaedinger, and was he pleased! And that reminds us--if you want to get an original, just send in three dollars to sponsor a set of pics for FFF--pick your covers from Astounding, Super Science, and Astonishing. The respective editors will be glad to send an original to you. ... Carl Swanson in army; so is Mort Weisinger, and I (Unger) have good reason to believe that despite what was said in FFF a few months ago, Sam Moskrowitz is not in army but working in Newark Post Office. ... Big news is that Farsaci finally completed Thrill Book index after he and Campbell searched high and low in secret Street & Smith closets, despite the stench from old editors and authors whose bodies had [?]en disposed of therein. It seems there were only sixteen issues of TB. Publishing was stopped after that because of a printer's strike. Complete index will appear in FFF (awk! more work for HW!) and Fapa soon. ... Neil R. Jones in army, too; located at Fort Bragg. ... Louis Lippie, 801 Lynn St., Essexville, Mich., announces publication of the first issueof Science Fiction Fantasy Review; a nickel a throw; contains varied material. ... Flash from Morojo, September 24, says that the next Vom is shaping up; it'll be about ten pages, with mysterious lithoed cover by Harryhousen, and be out around Halloween. On top of the loss of 4SJ, Bobby Bovard, who was to do a lion share of the work, succumbed to the lure of a Washington civil service spot, and is gone East. ......................................................
