sunday 4 ANNOUNCER What happens if people are indifferent? TRAPNELL Somebody in Washington does our thinking for us-- and if I know anything about this part of the country, the people of Iowa have demonstrated a peculiar reluctance to let an agency in Washington do their thinking for them and make their decisions. SCHRAMM That brings up a special reason why Iowans should take the lead in informing themselves about atomic energy. The Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Atomic Energy is Senator Bourke B. Hickenlooper of Iowa. TRAPNELL That's right, and no man in the Senate of the United States carries a heavier responsibility than Senator Hickenlooper -- as Chairman of that Committee. And I can tell you that he has burned a lot of midnight oil informing himself on this subject. Of course, in talking about the Burlington Atomic Energy Week, we're not speaking of the kind of knowledge Senator Hickenlooper has had to acquire. People don't need that much information---
