reading of poetry was my CNPA workshop production The Cow, An Engine of Dispair. Another isolated an archeological report, a portion of this report, a list, was a found poem. Poems already operating in reality could provide occassion for a mixed media event as well as composed poetry. In my poetry I often link objects or short serial episodes, which defy a linear narrative form. The omitted is cultivated, which in its way reinforces the stated. Like the Marx brothers inverted, an image operates with one talker surrounded by the relation of the parts. This succession of images is the condition I plan to research in mixed media events. Images may be provided to the perceiver by specific activities, objects, spoken words, printed words, usually in combination. These images will often be digested through other media such as video-tape or film. Most recently, I did a video-tape segment entitled "Fresh Air" in which a series of activities altered a piece of sculpture. D. S.
