What the University Expects of Its Students. As a new student you will find the State University of iowa to be one of the country's major universities. It has a student body with a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, and talents; the library and laboratory facilties are of high quality and are designed to serve students from the freshman year through the doctor of philosophy degree; the faculty consists of men and women who are devoted to the academic calling and are working on the frontiers of their respective fields; finally, and significantly, the chief objective of the University is to foster intellectual excellence while at the same time being concerned with the student's total development as a person and a member of society. In securing your education at the State University of Iowa, you will enjoy several advantages.
