Third you will have the opportunity to "rub shoulders" with students from all over the United States and from foreign lands who are interested in a vast array of fields from art through zoology as well as many professional fields. Quite apart from formal instruction in laboratories and classrooms this total environment provides a rich educational experience. The University seeks to attract to the campus those young men and women who are seriously interested in the intellectual life. Essentially the University is a community of scholars; it is not an athletic or social club or center for extracurricular activities.
