ORIENTATION ORIENTATION WEEK ACTIVITIES This section of the New Student Handbook is concerned with the activities of Orientation Week, You are expected to meet all appointments for which you are scheduled. Note that on your Admission Statement you have been assigned a University number. Many of the Orientation activities are scheduled according to the last three digits of your University number. If, for example your University number is 12 06 68 668 is the number by which you will determine the times and places of your appointment from the lists which are found on pages 38 to 40. It is your responsibility to determine the appointments which pertain to you. I. All new students are assigned to each of the following activities. A. Orientation group B. Examination Period, Tuesday September 17 C. Speech Correction Test Note schedules on pages immediately following this section of the handbook. II. All students are placed in Rhetoric 10.3 (see Admission Statement) are assigned a time and place to take a theme and speech test. These tests are used to determine those who are adequately proficient in Rhetoric and may be exempt from further work in that area . (See schedule, page 40) III. Students who have had two or three years of high school French or Spanish are required to take tests in the respective language to determine the level at which they should begin their college language training. Test, Time, Place French test, 8:00 a.m. Wed, Sept, 18, Macbride Aud. Spanish Test, 8:00 a.m.Wed. Sept 18, A-H 121A Schaeffer Hall I-O 321A Schaeffer Hall P-Z 221A Schaeffer Hall All new students are invited and urged to participate in the social activities planned as outlined in the day by day activity schedule found on pages 42 to 44. From the charts which follow, you are to determine the time, room, and building for each of your appointments. Enter this information in the appropriate spaces on the schedule on page 41. Orientation Group Members The orientation group to which you are assigned is determined on the basis of the last three digits of your University number. That is, Group 1 is made up of those people who have numbers ending in 000-0009 inclusive. For ex- 37
