WOMEN'S ORGANIZATIONS Associated Women Students Associated Women Students membership includes all undergraduate women at the State University of Iowa. As it is the largest activity group on campus, you come into frequent contact with its many projects during the course of the year. AWS officers are elected each spring during All-Campus Elections. Code for Coeds. This AWS publication describes and pictures campus activities and social life to prospective women students. Orientation. During your first week at SUI, you will become familiar with this AWS committee, which works jointly with the Student Senate in planning New Student Week. During New Student Week, you will meet other new students and will have the guidance of two upperclassmen assigned to your Orientation group, composed of approximately twenty students. The program will take you to mass meetings, faculty home visits, activities open house, the President's open house, and church open houses. It is designed to familiarize you with the campus and help you become a part of the college community. Freshman Council. AWS Freshman Council is composed of one freshman representative from each women's housing unit. Selection is based on the basis of scholastic and extracurricular background, with emphasis on potential leadership ability on the SUI campus. This group meets weekly and works closely with various AWS committees. Central Judiciary Board. Central Judiciary Board is a phase of AWS which falls in the realm of student government. Its chairman is named by AWS, with membership being designated on the basis of women's housing units. Profile Preview. New coeds are encouraged to don their favorite outfits and enter preliminaries for the annual Profile Preview fashion show scheduled in October. Those selected to appear in the finals will receive modeling tips from the Profile Preview Styles Committee. Each participant will then be [hand drawing] 64
