18 >> STUDENT HANDBOOK administer regulations concerning hours for women students and their housing units. The chairman of the board is a member of the AWS council. Foreign Student Committee - In this committee, American and foreign students work together to present a series of dinners each typical of a foreign country. These are held in the International Center. International Festival - The Festival is sponsored jointly by AWS and the international Center Association. It provides students an opportunity to interact by working together to present entertainment and exhibits which are indicative of the various countries. Profile Previews - New coeds are encouraged to don their favorite outfits and enter preliminaries for the annual Profile Previews fashion show scheduled in the early fall. The applicants selected to appear in the finals will receive modeling tips from the Profile previews Styles Committee. Each participant will then be judged by a panel of fashion experts, with the selection of one new coed as Miss Perfect Profile highlighting the evening. Personnel Board - Members of this Board are selected by the AWS Executive Council. The Board interviews applicants for the chairmanship of the AWS project and recommends candidates to the AWS Council for selection. Mother's Day Weekend - During the first weekend in May, AWS sponsors the University of Mother's Day weekend activities. This committee arranges a busy schedule of events to entertain parents visiting the campus during the very special weekend. Highlighting the festivities is a Mother's Day Luncheon at which time the representative Mother of the Year is presented. The luncheon is followed by special tours in selected campus areas where exhibits are arranged. This is a wonderful time for parents to become acquainted with their son's and daughter's "home away from home." University Sing - The concluding event of Mother's Day weekend is the colorful University Sing which is held on Sunday afternoon. At this time, men's and women's housing groups entertain students and their families. The top groups are awarded trophies for this performance. Orientation - The woman student co-chairman of the Orientation committee is selected by AWS from applications submitted int he fall. The student committee works in cooperation with the University faculty committee in planning orientation of new students. American Red Cross - The American Red Cross College unit of AWS provides services for various community projects in local hospitals. Student Advisory Committee - The members of this committee work with general liberal arts advisers on the day before registration to assist new students in preparing their schedules of courses. They are also functioning at the Field House during registration. Residence Hall Councils Each residence hall or house has a council responsible for student government functions and the activities program for the student residents. These councils are made up of elected representatives selected according tot he constitutional and organizational requirements of the residence.
