Dick Persoon Jim Barberesso Jeff Hoffman Rich Grier Kevin Shoneman (picture of all these people from left to right on top of page) Daum - Rienow 11 New officers were elected at Kate Daum co-ed residence hall Sep-t ember 20 and at Rienow II Sept. 21. The new members at Daum are Sheryl Raudio, secretary; Jim Campell, treasurer; Giusseppe Triolo, ARK representative; and Hugh Stone, student senate representative. As Secretary, Sheryl Raudio will record the minutes of Kate Daum's weekly house meetings. Raudio is a second semester junior in elementary education from Long Lake, Minnesota. Ms. Raudio also works at the Daum-Burge cafeteria. Jim Campbell was elected the treasurer of the Daum dormitory, thus putting to use his abilities in accounting. Campbell will check to see how the balance of Kate Daum's books result after each association, or floor, pays its student fees. These are $5 per student each semester. Marty Clague (Picture off to the left of text) The new ARH representative is Giusseppe Triolo. Triolo has already been selected to be the chairman of the bus committee. Hugh Stone will be the student senate representative, and states that he hopes to bring new suggestions for the benefit of all students concerned. Stone will be concerned with the Dormitory Council, with the reapportionment bill, with the Garfield Court, with the Herdbooks, with the Student Health Program, with parking facilities and other aspects of student life which affect every university student. At Rienow II a group of residents ran as a group and won. The members are Kevin Shonemen, president; Rich Grier, vice- president; Jeff Hoffman, secretary; and Dick Persoon, treasurer. Two individual candidates also won. These are Jim Barberesso, ARH representative and Steve Martin, student senate representative. Kevin Shoneman will preside over matters which he calls "straightening the dorm". One of these matters is television rooms. Rienow II has one television room for 500 residents. Shoneman thinks that there should be more than one. "There should be at least another one." He is considering a major in either pre-law, psychology, sociology, or political science. Shoneman is from Garner. The second member of the group is Rich Grier, a freshman from Deep River. He agrees with Shoneman as to getting more television rooms. Grier is a business major, em- phasing accounting. He par- ticipates in the University Hawkeye Marching Band. The newly-elected secretary is Jeff hoffman, a second-semester freshman art major. Hoffman made the handmade posters for the members' campaign. He believes that a government by close friends will run smoother than one where everyone is a stranger. The last member of the group is Dick Persoon, who was elected treasurer. Persoon wants every dormitory resident to get a "fair shake" in the dormitory structure. Persoon is a freshman thinking over his choice for major among pre- medicine, special education, or speech pathology. He is from Doon. Jim Barberesso was an in- dependent candidate elected ARH representative. Barberesso stated that he had heard complaints from some of the residents having late classes and finding out that break- fast time is over. He wants to try to extend breakfast hours for the benefit of these students. Barberesso is interested in sociology or anthropology. He is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Steve Martin, student senate representative, said he ran for of- fice, because he felt that for five or ten years he was a part of the minority. Now he wants to lead those who remained there. "The rights of the student are what is important." Martin is a freshman political science major from Davenport. Martin is also a professional bicycle racer.
