Department also welcomed Rolla Miller. Rolla's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Janssen. Little Susan Walters has been living in Iowa City for some time, but she never misses Sunday School when she comes to Burlington, which is about every third Sunday. Susan says she has two Sunday Schools. CHRISTMAS ORPHANS The Sunday School voted to adopt TWO orphans this year. They wrote, knowing the membership of the entire church was behind them, to the Orphans Home in Hoyleton, Ill. and asked for the names and needs of two orphans. They were delighted and surprised to receive the names of a brother and sister: Opal Akin, born Aug. 10, 1942. Light hair. Height, 56 inches; weight, 51 pounds. Shoe size, 1 1/4. Charles Akin, born January 21, 1945. Dark hair, height 49 inches; weight, 50 pounds. Shoe size, 1. Soon our Sunday School children will be bringing their weekly gifts for the orphan children. This money will be used to outfit these children and provide Christmas gifts for them. Any member of the congregation may assist as their generosity prompts them. Please contact Mr. Paulus if you wish to share this joy with the children. If you parents receive slips of paper regarding an orphan child and Christmas, you will know that the Sunday School is making a very MERRY CHRISTMAS for two of our Evangelical and Reformed orphans at our orphanage in Hoyleton, Ill. THE WOKAGEGE MISSION CIRCLE At present we are working on afghans and dressing dolls for Christmas. In November we will hold our annual auction at our regular meeting. We bring baked goods, candy, needlework, etc., and sell them among our members. In December we will have a Christmas dinner for our members. We urge any of the young girls or women who would like to join in the fellowship of our circle to contact one of the members. We are always glad to have new members. -8-
