We thank Robert mason for making the neat signs used during the service on Organization and Anniversary Sunday. We thank Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stang for the electrical installations at the altar. A light was installed right behind the cross. Another light was placed at the top of the altar. Plugs were placed conveniently in the back of the altar for the candlelabra cords. Those lights burn constantly and remind us day and night that it is God's house as we walk through the sanctuary. Miss Francis Jones dropped in for a brief visit some time ago. She was walking on crutches and moving with difficulty. We have not heard from her recently. We thank Mrs. John Buescher for a number of religious books which she donated to the Sunday School library. The books were from the library of the late Rev. John Buescher. We extend our congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keller who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 2. The last we heard, Donald Traman, now a corporal, is on his way to Germany. When he writes a good German letter, we will send him some fine addresses. The teachers of the various departments have been conducting "house cleaning" parties in their Sunday School rooms. They are getting their rooms spic and span for Fall and Winter activities. "We churchmen," said David Burges, "have gathered together because we are concerned about the 'spirit of Fear,' which has gripped America and has seeped into the churches. many Christian laymen now hesitate to take a stand on any controversial question of race, of labor, or international relations, for fear of being labelled and associated with suspected men." Our choirs have been doing fine work for the church during the past months. The Senior Choir is an inspiration to hear. It is grand to see the members of the Junior Choir in the church every Sunday.
