September 22, 1967 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 4 CALENDAR CLEARANCE NOW REQUIRED FOR STUDENT EVENTS Student organizations are reminded that they must secure approval from the Student Activities Board of the dates of their forthcoming activities (not including regular business meetings). A Student Activities Master Calendar has now been established to alleviate undesirable conflicts and to create a more ideal distribution of events throughout the year. Organizations should file their preferred dates for various programs with Miss Judy Raveling, secretary in the Office of Student Activities. She will forward them to the Student Activities Board for review. The Board will consult with organizations if there appears to be any potentially undesirable conflicts. In all cases, the Board will notify each organization in writing of the action it takes. NEW POSITION IN OFFICE OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES Mrs. Marcia Whitney is now working in the Office of Student Activities as the new Assistant Director. Mrs. Whitney was graduated with a B.S. from Iowa State University, and obtained her M.Ed. from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. While attending Ohio University she was employed as a graduate assistant in the College of Education. Last year Mrs. Whitney served as Instructor in English for Ohio University and taught four sections of freshmen English each semester. Mrs. Whitney's duties in the Office of Student Activities will include the registration of social events as well as the editing of the Student Activities Bulletin. CODE OF STUDENT LIFE REMAINS SAME FOR 1967-68 The 1966-67 edition of the Code of Student Life will continue to be in effect during the 1967-68 academic year. As a result, no additional copies have been printed this year. Student officers and organization advisers are asked to retain their copies of the Code for use in the months ahead. A limited supply is available to again permit distribution of one copy to the president of each recognized organization. This will be completed in the near future. Copies have already been distributed to fraternity and sorority housemothers and members of the personnel staff in the residence halls. Additional copies will be available from the Office of Student Affairs on a limited basis throughout the year. The Committee on Student Life has begun a thorough review of all of the provisions in the Code and will continue its work this fall. Other organizations, such as the Student Senate, have initiated studies concerning various regulations and plan to send their recommendations to the Committee on Student Life. Any comments or suggestions by students or faculty will be most welcome.
