October 4, 1968 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 4 LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED TO UNION BOARD! [emblem] UNIONBOARD Union Board has experienced a face-lifting. The outcome is a Union Board Symbol, which has been reproduced on buttons, balloons, stickers and stationary. The body of Union Board had been altered last spring with one new area emerging to replace an old and one area renamed. Travel Area, was created to include Travel Unlimited, a student travel service previously centered in the Union. This area contains committees to plan international and national chartered trips, local trips such as the student migration to the Purdue game, camping trips and a travel information service. What was once Forums and Lectures has been livened up and Called Contemporary Affairs. In terms of the atmosphere and tempo of campus activity nation-wide, it was felt changing the name would enliven the area to make it relative to the times. Adding to the previous committees in the area is a committee called Controversial Speakers. Many colleges have such a program and we feel it can augment the University Lecture Series and bring timely people and issues to campus at timely times. Union Board is intent this year to expand programming and make it particularly meaningful to students. In the process some traditional programs might be discarded in favor of new and more vital ones. But the prime concern will be to present worthwhile programs, new and old. For your information the directors are: President - Jill Wiley Vice-President - Mitch D'Olier Secretary-Treasurer - Diane Hawkinson Art - Bill Crozier Contemporary Affairs - Jan Watje Dances and Entertainment - Jeanne Kirkwood Films - Dave Dawson Hospitality - Lora Kleuver Litteraria - Pritiranjan Sengupta Music - Phil Dantes Personnel - Dick Tyner Promotion - Joe Rubenstein Recreation - Ramsey McKey Research - Larry Chandler
