March 21, 1969 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 2 HUMAN RELATIONS PROGRAM INTERN APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE Intern applications for staff positions with the Human Relations Program are now available in the Office of Student Activities, ground floor, Iowa Memorial Union. The applications must be filed no later than March 28, 1969, to be eligible for consideration. The Human Relations Program sponsors both off-campus and on-campus sensitivity training laboratories, which consist of T groups, or training groups, staffed by qualified personnel. There are two types of staff positions currently open, co-trainers and student trainers, and each applicant selected to be a staff member must serve an internship through at least one lab experience. An applicant must have had at least one T-group experience and must have a 2.2 cumulative grade-point average. A co-trainer applicant must be a member of faculty or staff, or an advanced graduate student with a Master's degree; a student trainer applicant must be an undergraduate or beginning graduate student. Any questions regarding the Human Relations Program or the application procedure may be directed to Dr. Roger Augustine, Office of Student Activities, 353-5761. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN POLICY-MAKING To facilitate student and faculty participation in University policy-making, permanent University General Committees have been established by the President. During the past three years, President Bowen has significantly increased the number of students on these committees. Faculty members are named by the Faculty Senate; student members are appointed by the President following nomination by the Student Senate. Student members are chosen by the Personnel Committee of Student Senate and the Student Body President and must be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Senate. Last spring over two hundred students were interviewed for committee vacancies. Present members of the Personnel Committee are Robert Lehrman, Janet Morse, Mark Stodola, and Tim Finn, chairman.
