October 10, 1969 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 3 FOCUS ON WOMEN "Focus on Women" is the theme for a series of Wednesday evening programs sponsored by the women's residence halls. The goal of the series is to provide opportunities for women students to meet and talk informally with women who have achieved distinction in their fields. After dinner with the students in the residence halls, the women will take part in informal "bull-sessions" open to any interested women students. Out-of-town guests will also be invited to a coke party on one of the floors and will stay in the halls overnight. Breakfast with the hall staff and lunch with another group of students will conclude their visits. Tentative plans include guests in a variety of areas --- Mrs. Gayatri Spivak (English), Miss Barbara Lawrence (Curator of Mammals, Agassiz Museum, Harvard), Miss Virginia Myers (art), Mrs. Louane Newsome (Library Science), Mrs. H. Rand Peterson (Board of Regents), harriet (author, illustrator, puppeteer), Mrs. Phillip Hubbard (life in Uruguay), Mrs. Sidney Mead (photography), Mrs. Elizabeth Koontz (Director, Women's Bureau, Department of Labor), and Kathleen Catlin (fashion promotions). Other guests will be invited as time permits. Specific dates and places will be announced in the residence halls and in the Daily Iowan.
