October 24, 1969 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 3 IMPORTANT MEMORANDUM TO ALL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS, RESIDENCE HALLS, FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES: SUBJECT: Calendar Requests for 1969-1970 FROM: Calendar Committee of the Student Activities Board The Student Activities Board is vested by the University through the University of Iowa Student Association Constitution with the responsibility of "co-ordinating...all student organizations and activities at the University of Iowa." Within this total function the Board calendars major student sponsored events. This enables the Board to provide two services for the student body: (1) To insure an integrated program of student activities in order that the student body will receive maximum benefits from these programs; (2) To provide the student organizations and units reliable information regarding the dates of various student activities throughout the year so that the groups may more knowledgeably schedule events. In moving toward these aims, the Board has established certain general criteria governing which events must be submitted to the Board for placement on the Calendar. The following criteria are guidelines: 1. All-university events--i.e., those events which all students and/or faculty-staff are eligible to attend if they so desire. 2. Multi-organizational or multi-unit sponsored events--i.e., events involving the membership of two or more separate organizations or living units. 3. Events taking place in major facilities--i.e., the IMU New Ballroom, IMU Main Lounge, IMU Illinois Room, Macbride Auditorium, new Chemistry Building Auditorium, Room 300 Chemistry Building, Phillips Hall Auditorium, Fieldhouse, Shambaugh Auditorium, Pharmacy Auditorium, or in several rooms simultaneously. As events are planned throughout the year which fit these criteria, please submit a calendar request for them on the "Student Organization Request for Posting to Master Calendar" form which is available at all of the following locations: 1. Office of Space Assignment and Utilization Room 1--Jessup Hall 2. IMU Scheduling Office 3. Assistant Athletic Director's Office Athletic Office Building 4. Student Activities Center--IMU 5. Office of Student Activities--IMU These requests should be made as early as plans allow in order to maximize the currency of the Master Calendar. The requests may be turned in at any of the above locations.
