November 7, 1969 STUDENT ACTIVITIES BULLETIN Page 5 ISAS "CRISIS CENTER" The University of Iowa Student Association Senate is in the process of establishing a "Crisis Center" for use of students and others who are in need of help due to problems with the use of drugs, problems with alcohol, psychological problems, and a place where people may go when no other sleeping or eating facilities are open to them. Our concept of staff at the present time is to include medical and law students, ministers, and volunteers from the general student body who are willing to give some time to this project. The plan is to have this open at all times, with facilities to handle phone calls, distribute information, be available for rapping, and any other emergency which might arise. We are seeking information regarding other such programs in the country. Any ideas and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Contact: Peter Dreyfuss Crisis Center Chairman STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS MAILING LIST As a service to student organizations there exists a mailing list designed to provide names and addresses of the many people and areas on campus that organizations often want to contact. The existence of this list makes the work of the organization's secretary easier, as he no longer has to make the many phone calls inquiring who is president of what and what is the address. The mailing list is grouped into the following categories: CAMPUS MINISTERS HOUSE MOTHERS NON-RESIDENTIAL ORGANIZATIONS PROFESSIONAL FRATERNITIES SORORITIES WOMEN'S RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATIONS MEN'S RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATIONS DORMITORY MANAGEMENT AND PERSONNEL WOMEN'S RESIDENCE HALL ADVISERS MEN'S RESIDENCE HALL ADVISERS ADVISERS OF: NON-RESIDENTIAL ORGANIZATIONS PROFESSIONAL FRATERNITIES SOCIAL FRATERNITIES SORORITIES FACULTY AND STAFF INVOLVED IN STUDENT ACTIVITIES There are several ways to use the list. The cost of each method is proportional to its convenience. The group pays nothing if it wishes to copy the mailing list and do its own mailing. If the mailing to be done is exceptionally large it might be worth a small fee to have Data Processing provide pre-addressed labels. The group then only has to apply the labels to the envelopes. The most convenient method is to have Data Processing do the total mailing for the group. The group would then be charged for postage in addition to the cost of Data Processing service. Whichever method is chosen, the first step is to stop at the Office of Student Activities, ground floor of the Iowa Memorial Union. There you will be provided with the mailing list for copying or you can make arrangements for contacting Data Processing. For further information call Randee Fieselmann at 353-5761.
