[handwriting] File Student Affairs Student Activities Bulletin University of Iowa Office of Student Affairs PLEASE POST Vol. IV, No. 14 April 29, 1970 MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND... ..will be held on campus April 30-May 3. The weekend is packed with events to help entertain visiting moms and dads. Saturday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m., the annual Honors Convocation will be held to honor undergraduate students who have earned "B" grades or higher in their college work. Guest speaker will be poet Paul Engle, Director of the University of Iowa International Program, who will speak on "Poetry: In Honor of Life." The Mother's Day Luncheon will follow at noon in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.Special events at the luncheon will be a speech by President Willard Boyd, and the presentation of the University of Iowa Mother of the Year. Parents of new members of Phi Beta Kappa, national scholastic fraternity, will be special guests at the initiation ceremony at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Union Ballroom. On the other side of the river at 1:30 p.m. the University of Iowa Track Team will compete with the Chicago Track Club on the Iowa track north of the football stadium. Evening events will be a dance theatre concert, "Vivachi," presented April 30, May 1 and May 2 at 8:00 p.m. in the University Theatre. A Seals Club water show will be held in the Field House Pool April 30 and May 1 at 8:30 p.m. and May 2 at 6:00 p.m. The University of Iowa Percussion Ensemble will perform with the Old Gold Singers in a concert on May 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the Union Main Lounge. Lou Rawls, famous entertainer (blues! jazz!), will present a concert in the Field House on Saturday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m. May 2 and 3 the University of Iowa Art Museum will hold open house for Mother's Day weekend. Visit from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Student art works will be on sale at the Thieves Market, May 2, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Union. Tickets for these events are available at the Iowa Memorial Union Box Office.
