STEFNEWS Weekly #10 Gratis: limited circulation Jack Speer 5229 University Way Seattle 5 Wn SUBZINES UP; FAPAZINES DOWN It may just be an illusion created by my gradually getting a larger percentage of those that are appearing, but there seem to be more non-FAPAzines coming out lately. There is no evidence in today's column that this is due to releases of dogfen. At the same time, the last FAPA Mailing was unusually small. This may have been partly due to the irregularity that had crept into the mailing machinery, and in a small degree due to VAPA competition. But Fantasy Commentator focuses attention on the phenomenon that whereas in the early part of the war period numerous formerly subscription fanzines went into FAPA distribution almost exclusively, now the flow may be the other way. An influx of new fen might have the same result, since it takes a few years for the typical actifan to decide that he can get more satisfaction with less trouble by going FAPA. FANZINES THIS WEEK FAN Jun 45. Panit Stories. Cover and caricatures of several fen by the celebrated Virgil Partch. FAN Jul 45. Material originally stenciled for a Hasse volume, comprising the last four stef[?] stories that Henry Hasse has any plans to write. They are readable, but at least three are definitely pulp.
