STEFNEWS 28 Apr 46 NEOTERICS PAS 17 Apr the Milwaukee club, tentatively dubbed Neoterics after Microcosmic God, met at Bob Stein's home: Donn Brazier, Paul Klinbiel (from West Bend), Phil Schumann, and Stein. They discussed Merritt, Stein's art work, Brazier's Googol and his new magazine T//////// (formerly Research Review). club matters, the recent First Post Radar to the Moon Con [groan],. An introductory article on s-f by Stein, published in the Vocational School newspaper, is posted on bulletin boards at that school and the state university, to attract new members. (The article disclaims pulps other than Astounding, and refers to recent anthologies.) PACIFICON 4sJ In for the convention auction, 15 additional originals of FFM illustrations, with word from Gnaedinger, "more to follow". Gatherings were frequent in that time. 17 Apr eveninged at the Victor Cafe amid Wagner and lager Lex Phillips, Rustebar, Rothman, Agnew, Train, and Madle, bidding farewell to the tourist. "Fifteen fen were at the meeting of 14 Apr, including Hevelin, De[?] Camp, and Moskowitz in addition to the usual Philly mob. Reading from The Immortal Storm was turned over to Moskowitz this time, and was interspersed with comments and questions by the group. Several members joined the NFFF, of which Hevelin is a boardman. Moskowitz's impression of this visit to the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society: "Thirty mature members, full of enthusiasm." PLANS Third Psycho will have 35 copies hektoed in several colors; expected around the first of May. Greater letter response is needed. The first and second issues maybe copied in hekto for distribution to original recipients (who first received it chainwise). LASFS FJ-CB The Los Angeles Science-Fantasy Society got $4 cash and $4000 worth of publicity on the air Easter when Abby Lu Ashley won the cash on the Carnival of Kwiz program and was interviewed about her hobby. She plugd stf, fans, the LASFS, and the Pacificon. The radio party, arranged by Tigrina, was attended by 4e&T, Triple-E, Gene Hunter, Elmer Perdue, and Dale Hart (and Ruj-AbLu, we suppose). "Joquel resigned the editorship of Shangri-LA, even before getting out any issues. So Shangri-l'Affaire goes on a 6wkly schedule; #30 out 9 May; will accept ade in addition to going sub, in an attempt to break even on expenses and cut down the 250 press run.
