VERSUS THE INVISIBLE MASTER SCIENTI-TALES PAGE 7 "Tricked huh?! Tricked! Well, by God he'll regret it. Nearly a week roving an unexplored planet. Waiting to see a rocket flare, trying to rescue a person that was there*not. Well he'll see. The Invisible Master eh! Well he'll be invisible when I'll get through with him." "Huh! When you get through with him! Wait till I get at him, he wont know what him. I'm not six-feet two for nothing." Squeeked, Squeeky Dorsan. The head of the Space Patrol smiled. For he knew that The Invisible Master had underestimated the Space Patrol. Not so much for Squeeky, whose bulk, brawn and intelligence were an adequate need, but for Hawk, for hero was a man he hardly knew. But he discarded these thoughts for something new. "Boys! I have a surprise for you. You wont be alone in this fight, for there's now a SPACE PATROL #II!" "WHAT?!" in unision. "Yep! So it tis." Meanwhile The Invisible Master was planning another escapade. What was in store for the Space Patrol only the future could tell. FINIS: PART ONE ............................................................................... PART TWO: THE SPACE PATROL VERSUS THE INVISIBLE MASTER ............................................................................... CHAPTER ONE # A PLAN FORMS The ship circled above the Lunar Airport, waiting for the signal all clear. A red light blinked on the ground twice, as little figures scurried out of the way. The space-ship then settled into a slow circle as it headed in a slant for the airport. At about a hundred feet above the ground, it's back rockets stopped and from under it's belly there gushed forth a flare or flame. The belly rockets cushioned the ship into a soft, perfect landing. It's Ultraimaine, blue metal door opened and a tall, lanky individual stepped out. He stood six-foot-two, was kind of handsome and was topped by a shock of blond hair. His all glass helmet reflected the lights of the field. His metal suit moved on oiled bearings. He stretched his long arms, spraddled his legs and yawned into his helmet phone. "Hey John! I'll drop our patrol list at the desk and then I'll meet you at the lunch counter, o.k.?" "O.K." was the clipped retort, as another figure steeped out. Captain John Hawk too stretched his arms and spraddled his legs as he watched Squeeky Dorsan head for the office. He did not stand six feet-two like his partner, but he did stand six feet on the dot. His well built body turned and headed for the lunch counter. Arriving inside the cold protected room, he took off his helmet and metal suit. His glance was arrested by the bleak Lunar scene he saw, through the glassite window. Jagged mountain peaks distorted the horizon and cast shadows on the greatly pitted ground. The Earth a huge round ball, silvery in it's splendor, hung duspended above the jagged peaks. But the scene that confronted him was as if reflected from his countenance. For his face was just as bleak and grin. His lips were pressed tight with a grown determination, and the shadow falling from his nose accentuated it the more. For, the small force of the Space Patrol was being harressed by an ingenious devil, who called hismelf The Invisible Master. Since he had first come into being, (that was at about the time that the Space Patrol had been born,) he had accomplished four to five more daring robberies. He did not have men work and aid him for he worked alone. Alone, but successfully. Hawk's thoughts were broken by a silvery voice however. "Hey handsome! A cup of coffee and two doughnuts for your thoughts." He turned around and a slight grin shadowed his face as he faced the counter. The one who had spoken was a beautiful blond who had charge of the Space Patrol Lunch House. He strolled over and spraddled a counter chair and leaned his elbows on the smooth surface. His eyes took in the pretty lines of her faced as he jokingly joked, whenever he was with her. But when he wasn't, he was as his name implied, a hawk.
