SPACE PATROL SCIENTI-TALES PAGE 26... SPACE PATROL CONTINUED FROM PAGE 11... The Masters usual smooth voice broke in harsh and dripping with venom. "So! You think you have got me, oh? You are clever Hawk, very clever. But that does not mean that your theory is right. So, die...die like the dogs you are; and I will be triumphant! Haaah! Haa haa….!" and his voice faded away into ghostly silence. For awhile nothing happened as the two men waited tense, not knowing whether way they were to be shot at. The heavy silence of the Universe impede on them and they knew that the Invisible Master was torturing then; just by plain silence. But, suddenly they were hurled to the floor as an explosion occurred. Not big enough to harm the tough, resisting metal of the ship, but big enough to make the ship reel. The two men got up from the floor and stared, for out of the thin air a figure began to emerge. A mere filament, gaining solidness every minute. They stared horrified as a warped, twisted figure became clearer. It stood as if frozen in the midst of its agony, three fourths visible. A weird setting, a figure through which could be seen the machinery and the walls of the ship. And the blackness of the Universe, stars twinkling, showed through the window. The figure began to sway, to totter, as if on the brink of infinity, to collapse in a silence, shattering heap to the floor. The face, now solid, could be seen, RECOGNIZED! Though it's face was agonized, charred mass. Two gasps of surprise echoed out simultaneously from the two space-police. For, the charred figure on the floor was SPATS! He had become entirely solid now and there could be noticed a strained breathing coming from him. Hawk quickly nealt next to him, with Squeeky following suit. "Spats!" cried Hawk, and seeing his eyes open, continued, "Before you pass out...give us your secret of the invisibility and antigravity machines. You will pay up all that you have done against man-kind." The eyes that looked out of the dying figure were now sane, not the eyes of a killer and a crook. Nodding his head, he croaked in a tortured voice, "You win Hawk! Y...You were righ, right about what happened...and thanks for warning me. You're a white guy. So...listen..." a cough escaped his lips, "I know that to to ones self invisible you would have to s-screen off the light from your body, somehow make your body non-reflective, so...I...I...ohhh!" and with a groan of agony life fled his body. The body of a genius who might have been a great help to his country and the people of the planets. The two men got up, secured some canvass and wrapped up the body of the Invisible Master. The Space Patrol vessel changed it's course in the heavens to head back to it's own planet 3arth! Where the end of the Invisible Master would be legend in the annals of the SPACE PATROL. THE END [Image of a man staring out a spaceship window at a planet.]
