EDITORIAL Yes, we are late with the second issue. If you care to send any brickbats we can take it, but truly we have been busy with Convention Activities as well as other items. Memberships have been rolling in daily as well as comments and letters of inquiry to answer. All in all you can quote me as saying, "WHEW". This is the second issue and will be the last you will receive unless you have or are planning very soon to send your post card of acknowledgement and let us know that you desire it continued. This is not just to got an answer out of you but merely a method of insuring us that you are receiving it. I have on file almost 500 fan names, many of which I am not sure as to their address. SO PLEASE drop me a penny post card, at least, also letters of comment on activities are welcome. If you haven't sent in your dollar membership to the 4TH WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION SOCIETY, do so now. The Society has voted that all money paid into the convention shall go into some method of insuring the fan the greatest convention on record, We need your support! So drop your post card or dollar to Walt Daugherty, 6224 Leland Way, Hollywood [Drawing of man on stick telephone speaking] GET AWAY FROM IT ALL AT THE PACIFICON IN '42 Delegates of the Pacificon will be thrilled by a novel feature for the yearly congress of 1942 in Los Angeles, should our present plans not go awry. If Walter does not falter, if cooperation is not lacking, both in the form of labor and finances, a running moom-pitcher [moving picture] of the convention committee activities will be made. At present, it is planned that the film will portray the development of congress plans—pictures of committee meetings in action, close-ups of the members at work, with all kinds of clever tricks of the camera to give a science -fictional and fandominal atmosphere, Nothing definite has been done yet to bring this plan to materialization, but we expect to get started soon, and will of course bring you the news of our progress as we progress,---CDH [DRAWING OF EXASPERATED MOTHER WITH CRYING BABY] STFANS attending the Pacificon will have the opportunity to meet more writers than at any preceding convention, according to plans being formulated and a publicity campaign already under way by FJA. "Almost every author in California has been contracted" reports 4e, "and the nation-wide appeal for pro support (so sadly unrepresentative in the past) is obtaining splendid results. I wish particularly to praise my assistant, Franklyn Brady, for the part he is playing in putting across to the authors the idea of supporting the convention." Writers who have become members of the 4WSFCS during the first few weeks of the drive include A. Merritt, Stanton A. Coblentz, Robert A. Heinlein, Ed Earl Repp, Lilith Lorraine, Graph Waldeyer, R. DeWitt Miller and Willy Ley, And the majority of these have expressed their intention of attending if at all possible!
