THE FANTASITE .... 4 Fanta-Notes By the Editor I'd better start with the cover photo, which was taken at the third official meeting of the Minneapolis Fantasy Society. The members in the picture are: Seated, left to right; Arden Benson and Squonch Foot, Charles Albertson, Oliver Saari, Ken Peterson, and Sam Russell. Standing; John Chapman, Clifford D. Simak, Carl Jacobi, Cyril Eggum, Douglas Blakely, and Ye Ed. Not present, and therefore not in the pic, were Fred Wagner, Sherman Schultz, and Bill Campbell. I want to express my appreciation to the MFS for assuming the expense of the prints. Without this, I am sure, it would have been impossible to have such an attractive cover feature. It would seem by all the compliments and praises received, that THE FANTASITE is pretty well liked. Naturally the first issue, being such, wasn't one of the most outstanding fan publications. Neither, probably, is this issue, bot of one thing I'm sure; #2 is a big improvement over #1. This is due mainly to the much higher quality of the material contained, and also to the fact that a great deal more time was spent on it. Exactly one day after I received the sixth issue of PLUTO, I received a letter from Marvis Manning containing some very unpleasant news; PLUTO has been discontinued. The sixth issue is the last. This is mainly due to the fact that Vincent Manning and M. Paul, two members of the staff, have been conscripted. Not enough members of the Literature, Science, and Hobbies Club will remain to continue the mag. And it probably will not resume publication even after their military training is over. PLUTO, in its one year of publication became one of the best liked fan mags, and will be a great loss to fandom. While I'm on the subject of a fan mags I'd like to mention a new one, just received here; ECLIPSE. It is a good mag, for a first issue. Material by Ackerman, Warner, and Evans, etc. Same could stand a little improvement as could the mimeography. I suggest that you try it from 13598 Cheyenne, Detroit, Michigan. 10 cents per copy. Don't forget to write and express your preferences in the way of material. I'll try to get the type which the majority like best. For instance, Fantasips was by far the best liked feature in No. 1, and it will be a regular column in every issue. I personally think that it is the equal of any other department of its type. And, although the humorous pieces were pretty well liked, most didn't care for them in such quantity. Accordingly, I cut down on the humor
